Tropical Travelogue Album

"Olá a todas! Cá estou de volta! Durante as férias tenho a certeza que tiraram montes de fotografias e aqui fica um álbum muito divertido para as colocar. No meu último projecto mencionei que estava a guardar o resto das folhas do Tropical Travelogue para um outro projecto: pois bem, ele aqui está!

"Hi Everyone! Welcome back! All those great pictures we took over the summer: here’s a fun album to put them in.  On my last project tutorial I mentioned I was saving the rest of the Tropical Travelogue papers for another album, well here it is.

Este "Beach bag album" foi feito utilizando as folhas mais coloridas do bloco 12x12 da Tropical Travelogue assim como do 8x8. As páginas interiores foram construídas utilizando cartolina verde e decoradas com imagens recortadas dos papéis. A união das páginas é feita com o método de scrapbooking tradicional, com furos e parafusos. Acabou por se transformar num misto de álbum de scrapbookig e mini-álbum (ok, não tão mini assim). Aqui ficam algumas imagens do álbum.

This beach bag album was made using the more colorful papers from Tropical Travelogue 12 X 12 paper pad as well as the 8 X 8 pad. The inside pages were made with green cardstock decorated with images I fussy cut from the papers. The binding of these pages is made in the traditional scrapbooking method with posts. It turned out to be a mix of scrapbook and mini album (ok, not so mini). Here are some images of the album.

 Para fazer a capa

Corte duas peças de cartão grosso com um ângulo para criar a forma de mala e uma peça rectangular mais pequena para a lombada. Corte os papéis Tropical Travelogue com a mesma forma mas 1/2" maiores a toda a volta. Ao colar o cartão ao papel, deixem uma margem de 1/4" entre eles.

Reforce o interior da lombada com masking tape. Isto irá proteger os papéis do desgaste provocado pela abertura e fecho do álbum.

Making the cover

Cut two pieces of heavy chipboard at an angle to create the shape of a bag and a smaller, rectangular piece for the spine. Cut the Tropical Travelogue papers the same shape but ½ inch bigger all around. When gluing the chipboard pieces to the paper allow for a ¼ spacing between each.

Reinforce the inside spine with strips of masking tape. This will protect the paper from the wear and tear when opening the album.

As tiras foram feitas a partir de tecido antigo que reciclei e tingi com um ink pad esfregado directamente no tecido (um cinto velho também funcionará lindamente).

The straps were made from old canvas straps I recycled and dyed using a dye ink pad rubbed directly on the fabric (an old belt will work just fine too).

Cole os papéis interiores às capas. Como as tiras das alças eram bastante grossas, ajudei ao processo de colagem colocando umas pinças adquiridas numa loja de ferragens.

Glue the inside papers to the covers. Because the bands I used to make the straps were thick I gave the gluing a little helpwith some pins I got from the hardware store

Cortem uma peça de papel com 2 1/4"x10 1/4" para a lombada interior e colem esta peça em último lugar.

Cut a piece 2 ¼ X 10 ¼ in for the inside spine and glue this piece last

Depois de coladas todas as peças de papel, é assim que deve ficar....pronto a ser decorado.

After all the paper pieces are glued together this is what it should look like …. ready for decorating

Reforcei o papel da lombada para que não se estrague tanto utilizando o multi-medium da Studio em mate mas se não o tiverem, qualquer fita mate irá funcionar igualmente bem.

I reinforced the paper at the spine so it won’t wear out as quickly using Studio multi-medium in matte but if you don’t have any opaque tape will work well too.

Fazendo a união e as páginas interiores

Faça uma tira utilizando uma peça de cartão com 1"x10"e duas peças de papel, uma com 3/4"X10" e outra com 2"X11". Cubra a peça de cartão com estas.

Making the binding and inside pages

Make a band using a piece of chipboard cut at 1  X 10 in and a piece of paper cut at ¾ X 10 and another at  2 X 11 in. Cover the chipboard piece with these.

Utilizando uma crop-a-dile, faça dois furos a 1 1/2" de distância da extremidade. Alinhe com as capas, marque os furos e faça mais dois furos na parte de trás do álbum. Coloque os parafusos de trás para a frente. É aqui que as folhas vão entrar.

Using a Cropodile make two holes about 1 ½ in from the edges. Align this with the covers mark the holes and cut punch two more holes on the back cover of the album. Slip the posts the holes from the back. This is where the pages will sit.

Escolha que tamanho deseja que a palmeira tenha e desenhe dois tipos de folhas e o tronco.

Decide on how big you want the palm tree to be and free hand draw two shapes of leaves and the trunk.   

Três folhas ficaram deitadas para a esquerda e duas para a direita por isso lembre-se deste pormenor quando começar a desenhar. Adicione sombras às folhas com distress ink pads vintage photo e forest moss  e com a ajuda de um aplicador. Faça pequenos cortes nas extremidades e amasse um pouco as folhas para dar um pouco de dimensão extra.

Three palm leaves will fall to the left and two to the right so keep this in mind when you choose the paper to draw them on. Add shade to the leaves with vintage photo and forest moss  distress ink pads and an applicator. Fringe the edges and crumple the leaves to add a bit of dimension and shape to them.

Corte uma tira longa de tecido grosso e desfie as extremidades. Envolva o tronco com esta tira. Pode colocar pequenos pontos de cola no tronco para manter a tira no lugar. Depois, esfregue o tronco com um ink pad. Acabe de preencher os espaços em branco utilizando um aplicador.

Cut a long strip of canvas and fray the edges. Wrap the trunk with it. You can add bits of glue to the trunk to keep it in its place. Then rub the trunk with the ink pad. Fill in any missed  spots with the applicator

Depois deite água em spray em todo o tronco. Como esta tinta é reactiva à água, ele vai misturar-se com o tecido. Adicione musgo e conchas para um toque especial.

Then spray the entire trunk with water. Because this type of ink is reactive to moisture, the ink will blend beautifully into the fabric. Add moss and sea shells for a special touch.

Cortei tiras de papel e com elas ajudei á fusão dos dois papéis na capa. Criei assim uma janela ou aquário com os peixes a servir de fundo. A imagem da mulher foi recortada do papel e decorada com stickles e microbeads e depois colada ao papel com os peixes. Emoldurei a imagem usando as imagens que sobravam das páginas interiores.

I cut the borders from the paper and with them helped fuse the two papers used on the cover. It created a window or aquarium with the fish in the background. The image of the woman was cut from the paper, embellished with Stickles and microbeads and adhered to the fish paper . I framed the image using the images left over from the inside pages

Decorar as folhas * Embellishing the Pages

Corteis 50 páginas de cartolina a partir de folhas tamanho A1 com 28X90 cm. Alguns destes papéis deixei lisos e outros decorei ou criei bolsas.

I cut 50 pages of cardstock from A1 sheets all measuring 28 X 29 cms. Some of these pages I left plain and others I embellished or created pockets.

Para criar os bolsos, dobre a página cerca de um terço para dentro e meça  o centro da dobra com uma régua com grelha. Corte uma janela utilizando os framelits da sizzix (pode fazer diferentes tipos de janelas com estes super versáteis cortantes). Corte um pedaço de acetato cerca de 1/4" maior do que a abertura e cole-o na parte de trás do bolso.

To create the pockets fold the page about a third in and measure the center of this flap with a grid ruler. Cut a window using the Sizzix Framlits (you can make different shape windows with these super versatile dies!). Cut a piece of acetate about ¼ inch bigger than the window and glue it down on the back of the flap.

Faça umas tiras dobradas e cole-as à extremidade do bolso. Isto irá dar-lhe mais espaço para a etiqueta ou para as fotografias. Decore depois a janela.

Make hinges and adhere them to the edges of the flap. This will give you more space for the tag or photo inside the pocket. Now embellish the window.

Recortei tantas imagens quantas consegui das sobras de papel que tinha (mesmo imagens não completas servem, uma vez que se podem colocar nas extremidades da página) e decorei-as com stickles e glitter. Como o miolo deste papel é branco, as bordas da imagem cortada vão-se notar. Pinte-as utilizando uma cor de ink pads similar e um aplicador. Pode também utilizar um marcador para este efeito.

I fussy cut as many as images I could get from the scraps of paper left over (even images that aren’t complete are ok as you can use these on the edges of the page) and embellished them with Stickles and glitter. Beacause the core of this paper is white, the edges of the cut image will show. Shade this using a similar color of ink and an applicator. You can also use a marker for this, passing the felt tip along the edges.

Antes de recortar os peixes e as folhas, apliquei na parte de trás folha de alumínio autocolante (adquirida numa loja de ferragens). Isto não só vai tornar a imagem mais resistente como vai também permitir dar forma à mesma. Os peixes e as folhas parece que ganham vida!

Before I fussy cut the fish and leaves I backed the images with adhesive foil (bought from the hardware store). This not only will make the image more resistant but allows you to shape the image. The leaves and fish fins seem to come alive!

Corte os selos com uma tesoura recortada para que fiquem mais reais. Cut the stamps using deckles scissors….they look like real stamps

Restos de twine e tecido assim como outros restos de arranjos de flores que tinha em casa foram escurecidos com vintage photo distress para dar um ar envelhecido.

Scraps of twine and canvas and other remnants of old flower arrangements I had stored away were distressed with Vintage photo to create a weathered look

Um bolso na diagonal com uma moldura para uma fotografia grande (reparem como as flores incompletas recortadas ficam bem a decorara a página).

A slanted pocket holds a large photo mat (notice how the how even the incomplete flowers that were fussy cut work well in embellishing the page).

As imagens recortadas no fundo e no topo da janela foram coladas por cima do acetato. The fussy cut images at the bottom and top of the window were adhered over of the acetate.

Flores foram parcialmente coladas numa moldura para fotos com 5"x7". Flowers partially glued hold a photo mat for two 5 X 7 photos.

Mesmo depois de puxar a etiqueta, os peixes ficam no sítio! Even after pulling out the tag, the fish remain!

Um bolso com uma moldura grande para fotografia. A moldura à volta do bolso foi cortada a partir de restos de papel que sobraram das capas.

Para dar um bocado de brilho, à já maravilhosa página, use stickles e microbeads. O cabo do guarda-sol era muito fino para recortar por isso fiz um com um palito escurecido a preto com o Black soot distress ink pad.

To add a bit of sparkle to the already gorgeous images on the paper use Stickles glitter glue and microbeads. The parasol handle was too thin to cut out so I made one using a toothpick dyed black with with black soot distress ink

Uma mini pega coberta com um pequeno tronco serve para segurar uma etiqueta. As folhas criam uma peça que serve para puxar a moldura para fora do bolso. Espero que gostem e se inspirem!"

A mini clothes pin covered by a twig will hold a journaling tag for the photos on the large mat. The leaves create  a tab for pulling the mat out of the pocket. Hope you have fun and get inspired!"
