Tropical Travelogue mini- album

And as promised, here is the firts project from our designer Susan Azevedo, especially made for Tubo de Ensaio, using Graphic45 Tropical Travelogue papers. And from now on, every Tuesday you will find in this place an exclusive tutorial for all of our scrapbookers! Here is Susan:

"Welcome everyone….. I want to share with you a mini-album made with the Graphic 45 Tropical Catalogue Paper Collection (I only used the brown hued papers here and left the colorful ones for another project I’m working on).
Although small in dimension (the album measures 6 ½ X 4 ½ ) it has over 35 pages that flip out, journaling tickets, tags and pockets with photo mats….. lots and lots of room for journaling and for holding photos. I want to share with you how I covered all 35 pages and 5 tags/photo mats + journaling tickets and tags using only 7 sheets of 8X8 and 9 sheets of 12X12 paper from the collection.

E por último, o interior da capa de trás And finally the back inside cover

How to create the pages
All the fold-out pages are from 12X12 sheets of brown cardstock (Bazzil Basics is perfect for this project…..just the right thickness) scored at 4in. , 4 1/8 and 8 1/8. Turn the paper the other direction and score at 6in. Cut along the 6 inch-score line until the 4 1/8 score-line. Place a strip of red-line tape along the 4in score-line and fold the sheet of cardstock in half and adhere forming a pocket and 4 foldout pages.
Repeat this 5 times to make 5 fold-out pages for this album.

Criar a lombada

Making the spine and binding
Cut a piece of cardstock 6 inches X 8 inches. The spine is created with 1/8 spaces and ¼ inch intervals between these. You should have score lines then at 1in, 1 ½ , 1 ¾ , 2in, 2 ½ , 2 ¾ , 3in, 3 ½, 3 ¾, 4in, 4 ½, 4 ¾, 5in, 5 ½, 5 ¾, 6in, 6 ½, 6 ¾ and 7in.
Make mountain folds and glue the 1/8 inch spaces together creating tabs where the pages will later be adhered to.

To make the cover, cut two pieces of heavy chipboard 4 ½ X 6 ½ and one piece (spine) 2 ½ X 6 ½ .

Cut a piece of backed canvas (also known as bookbinding cloth) in dark brown with 13" X 7 ½".

Apply glue to the inside of the cloth (the white side) and miter the corners leaving a 1/8 inch space between each board.

Adhere strips of double sided tape or a piece of tape sheet on the spine and on the inner edge of the two cover-boards (this is where the binding will attached).

Using the Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Vintage Valise die (657219), cut two pieces of the main body from the die. By hand or with a trimmer cut a third piece 2 X 6 inches. Adhere to the covered chipboard pieces accordingly.

Adhere gold colored paper or cardstock to Sizzix Scoreboard, Bristol board or heavy cardstock and with some leather (fake or genuine) cut the remaining pieces from the die. Texturize the gold pieces with Tim Holtz Texture Impressions (Burlap, 656645)
The album is held together with a strap of leather (5 X 1 inch) and a magnet hidden under the safari paper before gluing.

The paper collection comes with a passport-like cover and two inside pages to create a booklet. I spiced this already gorgeous paper with texture using the BurlapTextured Impressions again. The pages are binded together with masking tape colored to the shade of the paper with antique linen and vintage photo ink.

There are several pockets (some are made from acetate others from cardstock) holding tags, cards from the paper and photo mats in the pages of this album. All are made cutting a strip of paper or acetate ½ in larger on each side and scoring this extra bit and folding it inward.

This album was made using the brown-shade papers of one12 X 12 pad and one 8 X 8 pad, plus plain cream cardstock. By “painting” the light colored cardstock with distress inks and an applicator (I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo throughout the whole album) and the stamps from this collection, I was able to create enough “designer paper” to cover all 35 pages and 5 tags for each pocket and covers (inside and out) which otherwise you would not get if only the patterned paper from the pads were used . Although small in size this album has lots of room for photos and journaling. Enjoy!"
